aWeird_alThe 2006 awards season officially got underway on Tuesday night with the death of Robert Altman. Sorry, that should read, "with Black Eyed Peas totally spanking the competition at the American Music Awards."

Big Download nominee Fergie, Will.I.Am, and the other two roped in best rap/hip-hop album, best rap/hip-hop group and best soul/R&B group. Amazingly, Kanye West did not storm the stage and boast about how his video cost a million dollars once.

Among the "aw!" moments were when Jamie Foxx introduced the world to his biological mama, who reunited with the star after hearing his v. fine Unpredictable album. Maybe Foxx can now stop overachieving and go back to being funny again.

People also reported that Big Download nominee "Weird Al" Yankovic smoked a metaphorical peace-pipe with American Idol air-raid siren Taylor Hicks, who he spoofed on "Do I Creep You Out?" (Answer: Hell, yes.) The two made up with a hug and saying blatant lies like "Any time you get Weird Al to parody you, it's an honor." We’re sure Coolio agrees.

Host Jimmy Kimmel could have gone after the tough targets like Iraq, O.J. Simpson, world hunger, and the AIDS crisis in Africa. But he realized that now was a time for America to heal, so he tossed a K-Fed effigy into the ocean and called him a "no-hit wonder." Somewhere, K-Fed called Kimmel "not as good as Letterman or my homie Jay Leno." Then he put another quarter into the TV.

[UPDATE: Thanks for your comments on this post. The person who wrote it has been locked in the VH1.com broom closet and forced to listen to Weird Al's Greatest Hits on repeat.]

  • Forget America, it's your opinion that matters. Who had the biggest download? The biggest breakthrough? The biggest comeback? Vote!
  • What's your pick for the album of the year? Do Black Eyed Peas get the nod? Is Tyler Hicks scary? What about "Weird Al"? Leave a comment!

Umm… huh??? First of all, how do you work in the pop culture biz and not realize the name is Taylor Hicks, not Tyler (misspelled in the post title AND in the article) and second, there was nothing in the original People magazine article to suggest that there was a feud to begin with.

So this post's author seemed to be stuck in 1996 with the whole Coolio mindset. And third... BLATANT LIES??? WTF??? VH1 is usually pro-Al, but whoever wrote this post apparently wasn’t.

Is the author smoking the literal "piece pipe" wile writting this one?!?!? Al gets permission from each artist and record company before releasing a parody on his CD. Plus, Taylor seems pretty amused by Al's lyrics in this video:

It happens after the 5 minute mark, so be patient.

Are you guys completely delusional? Weird Al always gets permission directly from the artist before he parodies them. Plus, calling the quote: "Any time you get Weird Al to parody you, it's an honor" a blatant lie can't be further from the truth. In fact, Nirvana said that they didn't know that they had made it until Weird Al wrote "Smells Like Nirvana" a parody of "Smells Like Teen Spirit". I absolutely detest the quantity of false and biased information in this poorly written article. VH1 is supposed to be pro-Al, in fact they are hosting Al-TV on December 15th, but apparently this author didn't get the message. That's despicable...

This article is very poorly done. I guess there is no point in me rehashing what the othwer fans have already said... but I felt the need to protest in some way as well.
