Is_this_the_train_to_desert_moon_1_2He had on a dark suit and blue-tinted glasses. The hair was Mother of Pearl . We wore an old New York Marathon T-shirt and a bad case of acne. Here's what happened:

Dennis DeYoung: Are you the guy who called me "the silver siren"? That must have been some other blogger.

DD: I have sex with my wife now. I say, "Honey, here comes the silver siren." Was it the grey fox before?

DD: No, before that it was just a**hole. It's better. It's a step up. You have a tremendous online following.

DD: I do? I had no idea. They're out there, they adore you. Would you care to comment?

DD: My comment is "Wow!" I had no idea. To all the people who are on the Internet who find in their busy schedules to take time to go to and said, "Hey, Dennis, he doesn't suck so much." I'd like to say thanks. So what are you doing at the show on Sunday?

DD: I will have my pants on. They got to look up my legs and said, "Cover up those skinny white rails." I'm going to be singing "Lady" and I believe the ladies of Reality TV will be marching down some Miss America type thing. The reason I was asked because there is a law in California that says every awards show must have at least one middle-aged white guy. And Steven Tyler was apparently busy. So they called me. So who is your pick for Big Entertainer?

DD: YouTube has got to be the one over all of them. YouTube has had such an impact in such a short time. I've never gone to it. I don't go to the Internet much. I just don't. I do once in a while and my wife says, "Get off those sites!" Just kidding! My manager says now that when he wants people to know about me, he says, "Go enter 'Dennis DeYoung' on YouTube" and there I am! That's remarkable. They will have a very lasting effect. You've never gone to YouTube and tried to look up the Beatles on Ed Sullivan?

DD: I saw them the first time, so I don't have to see it again. Because they look young and I think, "Man, those guys should be young!" What, I got to remind myself? How about Big TV Star?

DD: I like 'em all. I've never seen 24. It must be on at a time when I go to bed early, like four in the afternoon. Patrick Dempsey? Doctor shows? Sick people? No thanks. I love Ellen Degeneres. I watch her in the afternoon when I'm awake. And Jon Stewart is very funny. He's a very funny guy. Makes me laugh. Do I have to pick one? Well right now it looks neck and neck.

DD: Ellen Degeneres. She used three of my songs on her show this past year. She sends me money and a check. Every once in a while some money shows up at the door. That person would be a friend of mine. Who is your pick for Big Download?

DD: I don't download. But if I were and if I did, you've got to go with Hasselhoff. And I don't even know what it was. How do you rate him?

DD: He's big in Germany, but so was Goering and Eichmann. I don't know what that means ... Who's Goering? Kids, turn off VH1 and watch the History Channel for five minutes. Hasselhoff makes me laugh. I like "Weird Al." He makes me laugh. He plays accordion. I oughta go with him. Has he ever parodied one of your songs?

DD: No, I just met him and he said there was no need because they were already parodies as far as he was concerned. That was big of him.

DD: No, he never said anything like that. How about Big Comeback?

DD: Al Gore? He's not back yet. I'd go with the Saints. That's a miracle. Because they stink usually. Is it good coaching, a well-picked team, or does a big cataclysm do something to a man?

DD: It has nothing to do with Katrina. I think they got a good coach and good players all at the same time. They couldn't be bad forever. It's the law of averages. Put a bunch of monkeys in a room and eventually they'll write a sentence. Big Outlaw?

DD: Michael Richards oughta be in there. None of them really. I guess you've got to go with Cheney because the decisions they've made could cause a loss of life . But I don't feel very political about the whole thing. And Mel Gibson, he was drunk. He said something stupid. That's what he did. Someone would have to explain Paris Hilton to me, because I'm not sure about that. The most fascinating thing about Paris is how you can't avoid her.

DD: I'm perplexed. I'm perplexed. I'm trying to figure out what qualifies anymore as being famous. It's lost its meaning in some ways. It really has, hasn't it? I think she's probably a good example of that. People could be famous for bad things. Paris Hilton didn't murder anybody. She didn't do anything to deserve the scorn that she gets any more to get the attention that she gets. She's not trying to hurt anybody. But it's the same effect as walking into a room with bad wallpaper.

DD: I think it's for people who want to turn off CNN and watch something else. They can't stand the death and destruction on CNN so they go, "Let's watch that. That can't hurt me." So what's going to be Big in '07?

DD: For me personally, I predict I will be one year older. Should I live that long. What about for the world?

DD: I think it's easy to think every age we live in is the end of days. But probably not. We should make it to the end of '07. If something goes wrong, they'll burrow down into holes for a hundred years and something else will happen. The only thing that's going to hurt us is a big asteroid coming and destroying life as we know it. But I have a feeling that life will spring up again in some shape or form. And they'll all be watching VH1!

Dennis DeYoung is the brains, power, class and driving force of Styx, and they suck without him!

There is no rock star of his stature who is more down-to-earth, self-depricating or genuinely nice as he is.

Rock on Dennis!!

I do not think that Dennis DeYoung "is the brains, power, class and driving force of Styx, and they suck without him!" Apparently you have not had the privilege of seeing Styx in concert lately. They definitely are not struggling without him, in fact I don't think they have ever been stronger! Way to go Tommy, JY, Lawrence, Ricky and Todd!! You guys are awesome!!

Dennis is the BEST. By far the real talent of the classic lineup of Styx.
He is rising as a star in his own right and is only getting better and better. Does not need his old band at all! Rock on, DDY!!!!

SO who do you think is the brains & power of Styx then? Todd?
Once & for all the Panozzos ruled that band, along with Dennis! Get a clue! There is no point anymore! They should be called Damn Yankees!

Good job Dennis. You are
proving once again you dont need those fair weather band members.

WTG Dennis! Dennis is just a great entertainer, writer, singer, performer et al... I've seen alot of Styx shows and Dennis shows over the years. Dennis has always been the kind of performer that brings the audience into the show... Hats off to Dennis, and all the talented musicians and songwiters, past, present and future (never say never) who have passed through the Styx history...

Dennis, you still got it! Excellent! I saw Dennis this year with his band and they rocked! One of the best concerts I've seen in a long time. Total class and still as strong as ever!

I've seen STYX with and without him. Without him they are awesome, with him they are super awesome.

Of course it would be great if Dennis was still with Styx. The silver lining is I saw Styx 4 times this year (in two weeks will be the 5th) and I saw Dennis twice. Now both can be enjoyed with the same great music and they both still rock.

Dennis is,and will always be the heart and soul of STYX. STYX without dennis is like driving a corvette that has the engine of a YUGO in it. What's the point? It looks the same but will never sound as great !

I wasn't alive when Styx was with Dennis but I've heard their old cds and thier new ones without him, and sure the band was awesome with him but seeing as how thier still good even though he's gone than i can't say they suck now but it would be awesome if he came back! Still Dennis Rocks

Let Styx do their thing without Dennis. Just don't insult fans by having Gowan sing any of the songs Dennis did. It's a disgrace. Would be like Tiny Tim replacing Mick Jagger. No one can sing a note like Dennis can.

Loved Styx for many years. Saw them in concert when Dennis was with them. HE IS STYX!! It will never be the same without him. His powerful vocals, musician's presence, just everything he does he does with excellence. This is the truth. You can debate this till the end of time...Dennis, "Don't Let It End!!!!!!!!"

I just saw Dennis on Saturday night at Busch Gardens in Virginia and WoW does he still have it! I can't say anything bad about the other band members as I don't know the whole story. All I know is that I love em all! Keep on rockin' Dennis! Today is our 21 year annivesary and "The Best of Times" was our song and our theme to the 1982 Senior Prom! Thank you Dennis for the memories!
