Games Get Reality Show
You're fired or just fired up? In the online reality show called “Creating Kaos,” David goes up against the Goliath “World Of Warcraft” for dominace of the MMORPG space. You’ll meet Damian Grow, a two-day-a-week doorman and “full time CEO,” who only has enough money to buy chips and Chinese food to eat. Legendary game maker John Romero bets Damian can’t do make his game a big seller. Meanwhile, one of the designers lost his family because of his all-consuming compulsion for creating "Kaos." Hey, the graphics for the game actually look great. Thing is, in Episode 1 of the online reality series, you don’t really get an idea of what the game’s about or the drama of the trials the developers are going through. But even though it’s a C-to-B-Grade effort of documentarianism, it’s still pretty compelling to watch: if you know a little bit about games. If you don’t, you won’t know what’s going on. The challenge for the future isn’t just Damian getting his game done. It’s for producer Wendy Chan to make future episodes more linear and logical.

hi harold,
comments duly noted. episode 2 does cover what the game is about and technical aspects about the engine. and drama? there IS drama. i have the privilege of having tons of video footage sitting on my computer waiting to make it's way into future episodes as soon as the introductions are finished. we're still early in on the shoot, so, like you all, i have no idea where this will all go. i appreciate the coverage and even the critique. look forward to some real drama very soon.
