Everybody knows that when rappers get rich, they spend lavishly on jewels, women, alcohol, and vehicles. But isn't it refreshing to hear about a rapper who actually donates money to his alma mater (his former school)? Lloyd Banks donated $10,000 to August Martin High School in Jamaica, Queens.
Anybody who has seen a NY public school or the kids hanging around them know that something is seriously wrong with the education system in that city. From what I see, a lot of kids don't even go to school, they just hang around outside wearing puffy North Face jackets and harassing pedestrians.
I'm pleasantly surprised at Banks's act of philanthropy. The cynic in me wonders why he's chosen to do it now, right around the release of his sophomore album, Rotten Apple. But the idealist in me hopes that he's simply showing a real human side, a side that you don't hear on said album, which is your usual glorification of guntalk, misogyny, and all around testosterone-fueled immature violence. Whatever the truth is, at the end of the day some kids and a school will be better off because of the success of one rapper. And that's a good thing. Here's to Education Day!!!
Folks in the press should be mindful of celebrating the positive things rappers do as well as the dumb things.

LLOYD BANKS SHIT IS STAND GASTRTA GUYS
G-UNIT IS THE BEST RAP GRUOP AND LLYOD BANKS IS THE BESTEST RAPPER OF THE G-UNIT GUYS
yaaaaaaaaaaaaa i am going to watch for my chris boo
I WAS PLEASED TO READ THIS AND ALSO HEAR ABOUT IT IN ONE OF HIS TV INTERVIEWS..BANKS KNOWS AND UNDERSTANDS THE INFLUENCE HE HAS ON OUR GENERATION AND THE YOUNGER.... AND BY DOING THINGS LIKE THIS... IT SHOWS THE BETTER SIDE OF NOT ONLY HIP HOP...BUT ALSO HE'S REPRESENTING THE BETTER SIDE OF
G-UNIT..WE HEAR TOO MUCH OF THE NEGATIVE AND IT'S SAD THAT THINGS LIKE THIS CANT BE SEEN ON THE 10 O'CLOCK NEWS JUST AS QUICK AS IF THERE WAS A SHOOTING..I'M A DIE HARD G-UNIT FAN AND I LOVE TO READ ARTICLES LIKE THIS...THANX..GGGGGG G-UNIT
Banks Is Doing good for Da community. People look at rap and they see violence, gangs, mad lyrics, but that's not what it's all about. Banks made a smart move by showin dem fools what real hiphop is all about. I mean u watch TV and all you see are the big names of hiphop. But The real hiphop is in the names not That Big yet, like Talib Kweli, Mos Def, n Gemini. Now Tha's Real talk
I agree Lloyd banks made a good move buy donating that money, and showing a more caring considerate side of himself, but why cant any member of g-unit show real emotions in songs, besides just anger and the need 2 make money, buy ice and fuck hoes. I mean i like that just as much the next guy, but i like emcee's that can express all type of emotions, frustration, anger, depression, love, or even just be able 2 crack a few jokes in a ryme. I also agree that Lloyd banks is probly the best member in g-unit by a long shit, especialy since it seems like 50 hasn't been putting much thought in he's lastest work, since get rich or die trying its been down hill. Im my opinion every song on that cd was good, now he just try 2 make club hits, and clubs hits don't have that quality that hip-hop should. I Definaly do not agree that g-unit is the best hip-hop group ever. In my opinion charts dont matter, fanbase, quality, and the message does how ever. i'd say wu-tang i even prefer d12 over g-unit, tribe called quest and the roots
i cant think of any more groups well, the lox
and the best tandons are
outkast, black star, 8-ball & mjg, common and kanye
oh shit and the beastie boys
I'm impressed to see him giving back to the community. I hope many other people see that we have to do what ever we can to reassure a better future for our children. Even if it means volunteering your time , something is better than nothing.
G-UNOT! gunits time is over, they were once good and now just stale.
It's nice to see he is giving back to where he grew up. As for talent, I don't think he has any, other than a couple good songs you can dance to in the clubs.
Hip Hop dont stop, Brooklyn !!!

I hope that you do good in the basketball tournament and too bad I can't come to watch you perform because I don't live in NYC.
Yeah yeah its good that he's helpin out people and stuff but we all kno that at the end of the day its all about his own pocket. He's only doind this to promote himself.. I mean who wouldnt want to buy a persons album who seems like a good person. Dont get me wrong I lve lloyd banks but...the man is frontin..
